Strongly recommended for an organization's first full or partial day workshop with Joanne, it is chock-full of great, usable material and covers a large range of musical concepts and a rich variety of musical styles within this delightful and fascinating genre of music. You'll receive a wealth of repertoire as well as tips, methods, and ideas from Joanne's 45 year career. She has taught this topic in week-long courses for music teachers and singers, as well as in condensed workshops.
Joanne will present an abundance of rounds to sing and explore together in a wide range of styles and forms -- from beautiful to hilarious, simple to deliciously complex, with body percussion, movement, in multi-cultural, classical, jazz, etc styles.
She'll have participants singing delightfully fun and gorgeous pieces together while exploring the forms canon, round, catch, partner song, and African-style cyclical song; revealing tips for teaching and singing rounds with young children and with older students.
The joys and great variety found within the forms of "rounds" and "partner songs" provide rich material for teaching musical concepts, styles, vocal expression and group harmonic blending. Participants will leave with exciting, unique "gems" for both classroom and concert pieces.
